It’s Allen, Knotts in Sylva; Fitzgerald in Dillsboro - Town elections are over, and voters in both Sylva and Dillsboro Tuesday (Nov. 3) returned former officials to their boards. Unofficial results have former Sylva board member Danny Allen and incumbent Stacy Knotts winning the two open seats on Sylva’s town board, and Mike Fitzgerald winning the mayoral race in Dillsboro. EDC board members turn in resignations - Two members of the Economic Development Commission have stepped down from their posts. Power line electrocutes Ellenboro man - A Pike Electricity employee has died after being electrocuted by a Whittier power line. Gary Wayne Vaughn, 39, of Ellenboro was working on a power line around 9 a.m. last Thursday (Oct. 29) off Camp Creek Road when he was electrocuted. After being taken down from the power pole, Vaughn was transported by ambulance to Harris Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. BMP granted continuance - While a receiver has been named in the foreclosure hearings against Balsam Mountain Preserve, all other proceedings have been postponed until Monday, Nov. 30.
