Extension allows WLOS to remain on Mediacom cable - Negotiations between Mediacom and Sinclair Broadcast Group resulted in a last-minute extension allowing WLOS-TV to stay on the local cable lineup. This area’s ABC affiliate was scheduled to be pulled from Mediacom’s cable systems at midnight last Thursday (Nov. 30). WCU trustees approve tuition hikes, other fees for next academic year - Western Carolina University’s board of trustees unanimously approved proposed tuition and fees for the 2007-08 academic year that will raise the cost of attending the school by about $600 per year. The fee schedule includes an additional debt service fee to fund construction of a modern dining facility to replace the current Dodson Cafeteria, built in 1966. The board also agreed to call for a thorough study of current student health services and fees to ensure that the needs of the overall student....


County leaders provide funding to park projects - In their last act Monday night (Dec. 4), outgoing Jackson County Commissioners awarded all their local grant money to two town-sponsored park projects.
