ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Separate sealed bids for the Road Relocation And Parking Area Renovation project for Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel will be received by the Owner in the Beech Room of the Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel until 2:00 P.M. local time on August 8, 2006 and then at said place be publicly opened and read aloud.
The work to be done consists of furnishing all materials, equipment and labor necessary to construct road relocation, asphalt milling, asphalt paving, grading and related work consisting of the following approximate quantities:
Demolition and replacement of 11,000 square yards of asphalt pavement and base, milling and resurfacing of 5,200 square yards of asphalt pavement, installation of 5,600 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter, installation of a below ground stormwater detention system consisting of 2,500 linear feet of 72-inch to 84-inch aluminized steel pipe and appurtenances, 1,000 linear feet of French drain and additional related work.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 A.M. on July 26, 2006 in the Beech Room of the Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel, Cherokee, N.C. for the purpose of describing the scope of the project, providing information relating to the construction schedule and answering questions from contractors and material suppliers. All perspective bidders are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting.
The Information for Bidders, Bid Form, Contract, Plans, Specifications, Bid Bond, Performance Bond and Payment Bond, and other contract documents may be examined at the following locations:

Drawings, specifications and contract documents may be obtained from the office of B.P. Barber & Associates, Inc., 9601 Warren H. Abernathy Highway, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301 upon a nonrefundable payment of $150.00. When requesting drawings, specifications or contract documents, provide the following information about your company: Mailing address; street (UPS) address; telephone number; and FAX number (if applicable).
All applicable laws, ordinances and the rules and regulations of all authorities having jurisdiction over construction of the project shall apply to the contract throughout.
Each Bidder is responsible for having inspected the site of the work and being thoroughly familiar with the plans, specifications and contract documents. The failure or omission of any Bidder to do any of the forgoing shall in no way relieve Bidder from any obligation in respect to the bid.
Bidders must deposit security with all bids. Security shall be in the form of a certified check, cashiers check or satisfactory bid bond executed by a corporate surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds. Certified Check or bid bond shall be made payable to the Owner, and shall be for an amount equal to not less than five percent of the total amount of the bid including any alternate items. Provisions of the security shall be as described in the Information for Bidders.
No bid will be considered unless the bidder is appropriately licensed as a Contractor in the State of North Carolina as provided in General Statues Chapter 87. The Contractor selected to perform the work must have a current Gaming License issued by the Cherokee Tribal Gaming Commission ($2,500.00 application fee) prior to entering into a contract for the work.
No bidder may withdraw the bid within 90 days after the actual date of the opening and thereof.
The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids.
