Authors on parade

JC Authors Float
Truly embodying the parade theme, "A Storybook Christmas" was the City Lights float, which carried more than a dozen local authors through town Tuesday night. Sylva's annual Christmas Parade, led by Grand Marshal Alvin Mull of Wayehutta, was viewed by a large, enthusiastic crowd as it made its way from McDonald's down Business 23 and then westward on Main Street. "The attendance was really great,"said parade coordinator Betty Foxx. "I appreciate everyone's participation, and I want to thank the Jackson County Recreation Department, the Sylva Police Department and the Jackson County Rescue Squad for their help." The annual event is organized by Sylva Partners in Renewal and is held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Visible on the City Lights float are, from left, L.M. Young, Toni Knott, Gary Carden, Barbara Murray, Lesa Postell, Amy Garza-McCann and Jim Harbin. For more parade pictures, see page 12A. -Herald photo by Rose Hooper
