Fall flurries pile upResidents of Jackson County's Balsam community watched in wonder as Tuesday's afternoon rain showers changed to snow flurries with temperatures falling drastically during the early evening hours. Snow fell throughout the night, leaving behind as much as 4 inches in the higher elevations. Slick roads - coated with downed autumn leaves, ice, rain and snow - made driving conditions during the early morning hours on the hazardous side. Herald photo by Rose Hooper |
